High Concept
A somewhat lazy man feels he’s destined to win the lottery. Entitled to it even. He never tries to do anything more than play some hopeful lucky numbers to win and earn money for the dream he has for his mother. He never challenged himself to do more than work a regular job with least resistance. He’s out of touch with some of the world. He didn’t know any better. He’s always played video games. At least the ones that show up where he lives. One day he meets a woman at the store and helps her buy a lottery ticket. She wins and feels it’s his winnings. He goes down a path where he is challenged to think outside the box and earn more money instead of taking it from someone else. In the end, he learns to reach for his higher potential.
The Story
A friendly, janitor, worships the lottery. He also loves playing video games. To help keep him out of the stump, he plays games to get away from his mundane life. His mother, who he still lives with, comes down on him every day about the life she expects him to provide and his job is not worth keeping. Waiting on his time to win the lottery, his life is slowly slipping away as he continues to get older. Only, he’s been playing the lottery for twenty years and has never won. He continues to promise his mother one day he’s going to do great things for her. Jerry, being the nice man that he is, on a normal lottery ticket buying day, goes to the store and he meets a busy woman with a couple of kids standing in line. She asks if she could go ahead of him in order to get out the store quickly. She convinces him to give her money and allows her to cut in front of him. Please plays.
The next day Jerry checks his lottery ticket to see if he was able to hit any numbers. He didn’t get one single number. However, Jerry watches the local news and he sees the same woman he met in the store. She’s celebrating the win with her kids and Jerry is upset. He searches and find her and wants to convince her that he needs the money so he can pay his bills. She rejects him several times. He stalks her and she always has to run away to avoid him. He finds new ways to challenge her for the money. She gives in and creates games that she is exceptional at. He doesn’t figure that out until after he loses them a few times.
One day she visits his house with the news anchor and decides to give him the ticket. Feeling bad for beating him, but he celebrates what it rightfully restored to him. He and his mom is excited about the future. He calls and quits his job and begins his new journey. Although short-lived, Jerry realizes that the ticket couldn’t be cashed out. He flips. Looks for woman to get her some answers. She’s gone. He sobs, but ends up finding a letter from the woman. He reads and becomes inspired by her note. He changes his life drastically and becomes a millionaire. He finally sees the woman again and learn some very interesting truths about her that he never saw in the beginning.
